Yarn
I’ve decided to get off the chronological fixation and just start writing about other stuff. At least the Laos posts are finished!
I’ve gotta say that the Thais are incredibly good at crafting things. I was sitting on the Chulalongkorn University shuttlebus (2 baht a ride!) and noticed the handiwork that someone lovingly crocheted to decorate the windshield.

And, if you look closer, you’ll see it’s a matching set! Shifter-knob cover included!

While on the topic of yarn, and because I am also an seasonal enthusiast… Though it is scorching hot here during the day, there are a number of people who seem to enjoy knitting. As far as I’m aware, this is the only knitting store in Bangkok that parallels with the NYC yarn stores.

Located in Thong Lor, this store is called Big Knit. In addition to expensive (on par with NYC) yarn of all varieties, there is also a cafe for husbands to lounge at while their well-kept wives take on their next hobby. Thong Lor, to me is the equivalent of Manhattan’s SoHo. Maybe Thong Lor should be called HiSo, a term used in Bangkok, short for “high-society.”
