Vegetarian Confession
Dear Nao,
While in Luang Phabang, I ate meat. On purpose. That’s right. I’m publicizing it here for everyone to read. After more than a decade of being vegetarian, I did it. And boy were these noodles delicious! Super-savory, a little spicy. I believe this is a dish native to northwestern Thailand, but they had it in Luang Phabang.

Now we can go to Joe’s Shanghai in Chinatown and eat dumplings before one of us kicks the bucket. Though… that is not to say that I will become omnivorous again. Just on special occassions and not in large amounts.
After this brief stint of meat-eating—though in very small quantities—I didn’t feel right afterwards. Not sure if I caught a bug or if it was the unusally dense non-plant protein unfamiliar to my innards. I’ll still go eat dumplings with you though. Even if they make me sick. : )
