Chatuchak Weekend Market

I could have taken more photos, but I think they specifically say, “No Photos” throughout the labyrinthine market. Chatuchak Market is only open on the weekend and attracts hordes of people looking to purchase anything and everything. I have not been able to make rhyme or reason of their organization system, or if they even have one. Here, they sell anything from clothing, to cheap tchotckes, food, baskets, bags, knock offs, originals, handicrafts of all sorts, lighting, cds, pets (!) metal bowls, etc. etc. etc. It’s a shopoholics dream.

Love Birds in Chatuchak Market

For this market to make any sense, one needs the patience to weed out the crap and to find some interesting gems, though that is purely subjective depending on what your interests are!

Strapping Tape Bags

I found this interesting stall in Section 8, Booth 388, Soi 15/4. (If that doesn’t make any sense to you, it doesn’t make any sense to me either!) These lovely pixelated bags are made from strapping tape. I think I mentioned having seen one earlier at my uncle’s house in Nakhon Pathom. I actually found some in the market, although these don’t have the charming addition of identification printing on them to make them feel truly “recycled”. Nevertheless, this is one of my stops before I have to go back to the States…if I can ever find the booth again!
